NEW NICKNAME

HEY PEOPLE,
from now on call me smiley , well , you have probably asked, why smiley ??, but you see , it is not always my idea , hehehehhe. My counselor has advice me to be called by my friends as smiley, and of course I FOLLOW it heehhe. The purpose of this nickname is to remind myself to always smile at the toughest of times, since I am recovering from my depression , this nickname will remind me to smile even at the toughest obstacle. Well I am very thankfull to have good friends such as my cello daddy and my cello comrades who have helped me through this horrible passage of my life. As always , I would not forget my 2nd year adviser who has helped me through my nervous breakdown , because of him that I play music better and I always look forward to challenge to myself

Smiley is a good nickname , and actually not my counselors idea hehehhe, I gave the idea of calling myself smiley , because of the 2 best persons in my life , Mr.Atienza , he is like my Cello Daddy, Sir Herrick, they inspired me to become the best person that I can be, and these people taught me that , "if there is a rough obstacle to your life , just try the obstacle and just laugh and enjoy it, what ever is your decision , you will stand by it even if it is a big mistake". This is why I learned to smile more often and not think to much, and that is one of the reasons why these people will remain special to me, I love you Sir Herrick and Sir Atienza , you two are like the big brothers I never had..

another day..

Patron

Yesterday , Mr.Almine agreed to be my patron , he will bring 2 cellos in our school to try it out for me next month, the cellos are not yet fixed , they have to be restored due to their age, I also have to sign a contract because the loan is only valid until my fourth year days and gives me enough time to find me another cello. So anyways , I need to find a good case for it also , a good bow hahah.
I hope tomorrow we can discuss about the contract signing hehhe, its like Bein and Fushi here in the Philippines. I hope I could practice more with the cello that I am going to borrow, I hope it is a large pattern Montagnana copy, hehehe. I hope the cello sounds good like a Montagnana or a Goffriller , or sounds like du Pre's Davidov or Casals' Tononini. I also like the sound of the Tecchler and a Petrius Guarnerius or a Gennaro Gagliano Cello hehehhehehe. I love playing if my instrument is better but I have to refine my techniques hehhe ok , goodbye for now , here are some pictures of Casals and Rostropovich and other cellists.

Tribute to Mrs.A

Mrs.Carmencita Guanzon Arambulo is considered to be my second mother and she is one of my best friends. She has been supportive even though I concentrated on the violin. She taught me the value of love and friendship. She is the best teacher to have ever existed here on earth. Mrs. A is the best friend I had, though she does not know this , she is one of my best friends who helped me during my depression, she and most of the teachers in GMS are helping me to recover from this depression. She guides us through music and what joy can music bring. I highly thank her for being supportive of the kids who play wonderful music. She is the most greatful mother to her children. And I wrote this to show how much we love her as a mother, teacher and as a best friend. Thank you Mrs.A for everything.

In Heaven

What I consider to be heaven is where I can play my cello , happily and freely. It is heaven especially when you play with other cellists. Last camp was heaven , I thought that I would be quiet but I actually talked to them hehehehe:). But of course it has to end though , we have to say our goodbyes , and then there is always the next one , I cannot wait to greet and play with them again and of course in the next camp , we will be better , playing more fun and more challenging pieces. You know , since I am dealing with depression , I have learned whats my medicine , its having regular lessons , lessons kept me happy , especially when we have chamber sessions , chamber is always fun especially playing with your closest friends. For me GMS is heaven an oasis for a student to unwind through playing their instrument and forget the problems in school, in GMS I have good friends and knowing that they will be their forever. I will never forget the last camp because it has brought me good friends and good memories , and finally I realized who are my true and best friends now. Now I know that my GMS family are the best friends a depressed boy could ever have , especially the cello group , they have been a family to me eversince.

You know why I wrote this ?? It is that because I want my GMS family to show my happiness to them because they taught me a valuable thing , you will know who your friends are , if they stick in your heart forever until death.

so and so , I feel invigorated and happy.

Till Next time,

JERVI LOPEZ

Dream Cello

My dream as a cellist is that not only I would want to make my cello teacher proud but also to enter a competition such as the Cassado Competition and the Tchaikovsky Competition . I would dream of me going for the gold, but my problem is , since I do not have the budget to buy a very good cello , that is why I will work my hardest to become a great cellist, if I become good in this instrument , and I have record labels , I would buy a Montagnana cello or at least any italian instrument would do. Many cellists dream of playing one , great cellist such as Yo Yo Ma and Gregor Ptiagorsky uses a Montagnana.

Cello Teacher:)

I have been playing the cello since I was 11, since I concentrated on the violin I neglected my responsibility to the cello, but now I realized that I wanted to become a cellist , because the sounds I have been carrying for so many years was from the cello. But you know , I kinda feel sad for my cello teacher because I study for free, so this time I will concentrate on it so he can be proud of me, you know I want to make him proud when I play as a soloist with orchestra and play the Elgar Cello Concerto. The reason I wanted to pick that particular concerto is because it is his lucky piece , he got in the philharmonic with this piece. You have probably asked , why is your cello teacher special?? , that is because , everyday in cello class , he does not only teach you cello but he also teaches more about life lessons and ways how to become a better person , this is something that my school teachers cannot teach me. He is somewhat like a best friend , but I would describe him more as a father because he guides all his pupils to the right path.I can say , he is the best teacher I have had in any academic subject that I have learned because I have learned more from him then my school teachers.

More and more I learn from my cello teacher , the more I become enlightened and become a better person, actually he even knows what I am going through than my parents , I even think he will be a great parent because he guides us as if were his children. My cello teacher is the most wonderful person in the world because he values the meaning of life and music. I have a lot to thank for , because everyday I am being cured from my depression slowly each lesson, he always tell me "Jervi,be positive , do not think negatively. "I appreciate him because he is a one of a kind teacher , because he does not get mad on a simple mistake instead , he makes you work on it harder, that is how I feel, but you know for 4 yrs not working on the instrument , it makes me think that maybe my cello teacher does not want to teach me anymore or something like that
but you know he is not like that, even though you do not practice , he can tell right through your eyes ehehhe. That is why I want it to make it up to him , I will promise to work hard on the cello, I promise.

It took me 4 yrs to realize that , he is teaching me more than the instrument , he teaches me life lessons and the value of life , art and music. Thank you cello teacher , you are able to cure my depression each lesson.

with admiration ,
Jervi Lopez

I will not forget you sir .You are part of my life that will remain significant and the lessons you teach will be there in your students heart forever.

Depression...

For 2 yrs , I have been battling what you call depression.I am sorry for lying to my classmates that I was happy but as a matter of fact I was not, even though they try to make me happy by going to there trips but I was not, as a matter of fact I was out of place with them , and i feel disgrace that i hid something from them.I was angry at myself because i could not find ways how to feel happy out myself. Now I admit that I am mentally ill. I always believed that I am nothing , not worthy of having friends because I feel I am pathetic and full of nothing. For the 3 friends I lost , I am sorry, I relied on intuition, I did not know it was a joke , I thought you tried to make me angry because I was trying to kill the fun but as a matter of fact , I was not , I was highly concerned of this so called fun because I did not want you to get into trouble , because sometimes you guys get too far and you do not realize it. I guess one thing is for sure , I do not deserve to be a friend..

I hope they can read this, and sorry from hiding things..
